OverDrive is retiring their legacy OverDrive app and encouraging all OverDrive users to switch to the Libby app. What does that mean for Catoosa's library users?
New users will no longer be able to download the OverDrive app from the Apple App Store, Google Play, or the Microsoft Store, beginning on February 23, 2022.
Library patrons who already use the OverDrive app will be able to continue using the app, but are encouraged to begin making the switch. OverDrive plans to eventually discontinue the app completely.
New library patrons will be directed to download the Libby app to access our collection of ebooks and audiobooks. (Kindle Fire users see below)
The Libby app is not yet available in the Amazon app store. So, Kindle Fire users will still be able to download and use the OverDrive app, for now.
Kindle Fire users can also stream ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines in their browser from libbyapp.com or the library’s OverDrive website.
Users can also deliver Kindle Books to a Fire tablet from a device that supports Libby or from libbyapp.com (US only).
The OK Virtual Library OverDrive website will still be available at https://okvirtuallibrary.overdrive.com/.
Visit the digital library page of our website to download step-by-step instructions to help make the transition easier. Also, feel free to stop by the library for help.
